St Mary the Virgin, Lewisham

I frequently walk past this churchyard on the way to and from the shops in Lewisham. It's a lovely place even if it is beside the main road, and especially in the garden at the back it's a haven of tranquility. In the summer it's full of wild flowers and butterflies, but in January it was grey, damp and full of grey squirrels stocking up on acorns!
If you're in the Lewisham area it's a lovely place to stop for a little while. There are some impressive monuments between the church and the road, and if you hunt around there are also some old gravestones with memento mori - especially at the rear, where a public footpath runs through the churchyard.
